Thank you for your response and kind words. I am so glad I reached out for comfort about loosing my pet but I had no idea that others could experience to same level of grief that I have, and I know now that I am not alone. I am thankful that there are people like you who have devoted themselves to the care of our furbabies. May God have a special place in his heart for you and your staff. Teresa Christian

To our Gray Ghost:

Gray Ghost was adopted from PAWS Atlanta at 3 years old. His description on his website profile was "I was found and not wanted." I liked his name. It sounded like a superhero and wanted to meet him. He didn't approach us at the shelter like the other cats did. I had to ask a volunteer which one he was. She put him in my lap and we knew we were meant for each other. Gray Ghost lived up to his superhero name. My upstairs neighbor called me at work and told me something was wrong with my cat. I rushed home and she met me at the door in tears and asked me if my cat knew how to talk and said she swore she heard the word "help." He saved his girlfriend, Honey Bunny. She had jumped over the shower doors and turned the hot water on and got trapped inside. I found the bathtub filled to the rim, a soaking wet Honey Bunny, and a Gray Ghost that was in full rescue mode. He was also a medic, knowing whenever I didn't feel well or had hurt myself. Any strange sound that came out of my mouth, he was always there to investigate to make sure I was ok. We never needed a clock with Gray Ghost. He could pinpoint the exact minute when it was breakfast or dinnertime. He would wake us up by meowing directly into our ear. He had figured out where the sound goes in. Years later, we took in 2 semi-feral kittens. I fully expected on of them to live her entire behind our couch. Not so. She adored Gray Ghost and became his little minion. It was a monkey-see, monkey-do story. I told Gray Ghost when we adopted him that he had hit the jackpot, but I was wrong. It was us that hit the jackpot. He fought courageously after being diagnosed with chylothorax and cancer in May. He will always be loved and greatly missed.
